Alternative Printing Surfaces

For Monday (10/17), we'll start exploring alternate surfaces for printing or inkjet transfer

***BRING***

Bring a variety of artist papers (printmaking, watercolor, or otherwise). Papers should have an average to moderate texture/tooth. Can be any color, but lighter (off-white) colors will probably allow more options. We can even try linoleum, wood, plexi, etc.

Have an open mind about this... the more experimental you get, the greater the unknown, and potentially, the greater the rewards.

Critique with Sheila Pree Bright

Wednesday 10/12

All images for SPB critique must be in print form. Things to consider:
  • Coherent group of images—not just a random pile o' stuff. Its best that pictures come from a single body of work you are hoping to gain feedback on. This could be images from project 1, color portfolio, or even project 2, if you are far enough along to get some early feedback.
  • 8-12 images
  • Exquisitely printed, appropriate size. (at least 8x 10)
  • Yes, prints can be run for you on the large printer—submit files by Friday, 7th, first thing in the morning.
  • Prints should have no dings, scratches, damage, etc.
  • Matting is preferred.
  • Prints should be presented in some kind of a portfolio box or case
  • Bring a notebook to jot down feedback
  • Some sort of artist statement is preferred. Be able to at least express what you are doing with the work, verbally.
Critique begins at the start of class.
